Return to an Old Testament World

Matthew 24:37 reads, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Genesis 6:11, 12 reads, “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.” The reason God chose to destroy the earth and start over was, the earth was filled with violence, and all flesh had become corrupted. I have brought this later part up when it comes to the concept of genetic modification. It’s a way of corrupting flesh. Before the days of Noah, you have the passage about the sons of God taking the daughters of men as wives (6:2). One has to wonder if this is part of the corruption. I’ll let someone else pull that thread. What I want to do with this letter is cover a topic, up to this point, I have heard no one else cover. It is ways in which our society is beginning to resemble other moments in the Old Testament.

For this first passage, one would have to read most of the entire book of 1 Samuel. I’m just going to make several points. Between the time David became the King of Israel (1 Samuel 16:13) and David took the throne (2 Samuel 5:9), there was a period of time David was the King by Law (de jure), but Saul was king (de facto). In other words, the person holding power was not the ruler, but the ruler didn’t hold power. During this time, the invalid king slowly lost his mind (1 Samuel 16:14, 15, 1 Samuel 19:24, …among many other examples), and tried multiple times to kill the valid king (1 Samuel 19:1, 10, 1 Samuel 23:15 …among other examples). Does that sound familiar to anyone living in the United States from 2021 through 2024? What is old is new. What is new is old. As a side note, for those who read Romans 13 as, you must obey the government, which government should we obey, the de jure government (Constitution) or the de facto government?

There is a form of government known as a kakistocracy. The Greek translates as the rule of the worst. It is a government run by either the most corrupt or most incapable people. How or why would this happen? It’s simple. You have people behind the scenes who purchase influence. They installed people who are either so compromised, they will always do what their financiers, or they are so stupid, they don’t know anything otherwise. 1 Kings 13:33 reads, “After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.” Does this sound familiar?

There was a war between the tribes of Gilead (Gad, Reuben, and Manasseh) and Ephraim recorded in Judges 12. The two tribes spoke the same language, but had different accents. Otherwise, they were identical, all being Israelites. The Gileadites would ask people to say the word Shibboleth. If they mispronounced it, they would kill them on the spot. (Judges 12:6) I’ve witnessed two ways in which the pronunciation of a word is used as essentially a loyalty test. There isn’t really a Ukrainian language. It’s just Russian with some different pronunciations and spellings. They want so desperately to have their own language and culture, they decide new ways to pronounce old words and will literally kill people for pronouncing the words the old way. For example, they demand the city Kiev, be pronounced Kyiv. Keep in mind when I say this, I am fully familiar with Victoria Nuland’s involvement in the Maidan Coup. To me, that’s the true cause of the war. However, soon after that, the Kiev regime started passing laws banning the Russian language (pronouncing words the Russian way). The problem is, most of the people who live there are Russian. It quickly came to the point that the Kiev government started using the military to try to force the Russians to obey these new language laws. When this failed, it turned into a shooting war. There is now about 1.7 million people dead as a result of this war. It could now be said, that 1.7 million people have been killed over the pronunciation of words. As I said, there’s a deeper cause here, but this is one factor in the events in the Ukraine. Another place I saw this was in the United States. For years Kamala Harris was Kamala Harris. It’s a common Indian name. Long before Harris usurped power, I had heard a different Indian lady pronounce her name Kamala. Then all of a sudden, Kamala Harris became ‘black’ and her name was pronounced differently. If anyone pronounced her name correctly, then they would be castigated by the media. This to was a form of Shibboleth. What is old is new. What is new is old.

I intend to update this letter if I see other ways in which we seem to be going back to old testament behavior. If you notice something. Let me know.
